Monthly Work Day

Volunteer on our Chiwaukee Prairie Work Days as we to restore quality habitat for prairie plants and animals. All we need is you to help! No experience necessary. On the job training! Wear old clothes, sturdy shoes or boots, hats and gloves. We have tools and the equipment to get the job done. If the weather is warm, be sure to bring plenty of water. If you have questions, call Nathan at 262.694.7351. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to sign-in. We hope to see you there!
This Saturday, December 17, we will be will be continuing the work started last January. The trees that were basal bark treated then, are now are dead. Saturday, we will cut and stack them, and if weather permits, burn the brush piles (or another time as conditions permit). Also, we will basal bark treat any surviving or brush. Alan has dropped all of the large trees so we have those out of the way.
The prediction is for clouds, with a high near 40 degrees. Winds are expected to be SW at 10-20 mph. Dress for the weather. Wear old clothes in layers, sturdy shoes or boots, hat, work gloves, and protective eyewear. We supply tools, water, instructions, and answers to all your questions about the Prairie.
We will meet on 3rd Avenue north of 96th Street approximately 0.2 miles (or approximately 250 feet southeast of 93rd Street).

Workday cancellations will be posted on our website and Facebook by 8:00 AM on the workday. If you are unsure whether a workday will take place, please use good judgement when deciding whether or not to attend.
